Claim to Fame: The first woman to drive across the United States in 1909.
Car: 1909 Maxwell DA. 4 Cylinder engine, 30 HP, top speed: 40 mph. In 1925 Walter Chrysler bought Maxwell and and folded it into his new company Chrysler.
Facts:
- On June 9, 1909 at the age of 22 Ramsey set off from New York and drove to San Francisco. The trip took 59 days. Even though she
- She organized the Red Cross Motor Corps for Camp Merritt in New Jersey during World War I.
- After her initial record she crossed the country at least 30 more times.
- In 2000, Ramsey became the first woman inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame.

- 1999 : Her famous journey was re-run by automotive journalists Tara Baukus Mello and Sue Mead.
- 2009: Emily Anderson is set to re-run for the 100th anniversary on June 9 driving a home-built Maxwell replica.
