Women’s Car of the Year Award
And the award goes to...
Yet another Women’s Car of the Year Award has just been created. Ten female motor journalists from around the world will serve as judges. There will be 4 categories: Family Car of the Year, Sports Car of the year, Luxury Car of the Year and Best Economical Car.
The New Zealand judge, Sandy Myhre, had this to say about the judging “We will look at driveability, obviously, but won’t delve into horsepower or torque too much…We will examine whether a car is child-friendly, whether it is value for the money, what the carbon footprint is like.”
It’s one thing when men talk down to women about cars, it’s quite another when women do it. Ok, yes there are some women who want kid-friendly, eco-conscious, gentle cars. But there are other women who want a powerful sportscar, an exotic, horsepower and torque. These women may or may not have kids—a woman can have a family SUV and a sports car for herself by the way. Just because you have a child doesn’t mean you forfeit your passion for great cornering ability, backroads, screeching tires and redlining.
We applaud the idea of a Women’s Car of the Year Award. But if you’re calling it that make sure you’re targeting it toward all women if not you may want to change the name to Family Car of the Year Award.
