Women Rally in India

From the 2009 Lavasa rally

The Lavasa Women’s Drive is an all-women’s rally from Mumbai to Lavasa, about 225 km (140 miles). The rally helps spread awareness of the importance of early cancer detection. It will take place on March 7th, but the deadline to sign up is February 27th so if you’re interested you can sign up here. Last year the rally saw over 1000 women participate.

Technically Lavasa is not a race, meaning that it’s not about speed. It’s what is called a TSD or Time/Speed/Distance and it involves calculating the route and driving closely to the ideal conditions—it’s easier than it sounds. You can learn more about TSD rallies here. The entry fee is 1000 rupees ($21) and the winner receives 1 lakh ($2,160).
