Who knew NASCAR Was So Romantic?
Four wheels, two hearts, and one oval
We had no idea that NASCAR could be so romantic. But apparently Harlequin did. They found the NASCAR track was perfect backdrop for a series of books aptly titled, Harlequin NASCAR, that they’ve been publishing over the past few years.
Harlequin has had an official licensing agreement with NASCAR since 2005. Read NASCAR’s official press release. The books seem to be selling too, some are already sold out. 40% of NASCAR’s fans are women and clearly they’d like to capitalize on this. “NASCAR continues to attract more and more female fans,” said Mark Dyer, NASCAR VP of licensing. “They are an enthusiastic and loyal group who possess a unique intensity in regards to the sport.”
The question is, how many double entendres can you come up with for book titles? Here are some of our favs: Checkered Past, Banking on Hope
and our top favorite: Black Flag, White Lies
Here’s how Harlequin describes the series: “The rush of the professional race car circuit; the thrill of falling in love. These NASCAR romances are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat as you read about the thrilling twists and turns both on the racetrack and on the track to love.”
We were impressed that at least a few of the books featured the female love interest as the driver. Need a little winter reading? You can purchase the books here.
