Trend Alert: Women’s Only Taxis
Forsche women's only taxi in India
We keep seeing this trend around the globe—taxi services run by women, driven by women for women. Kudos to you auto-loving ladies who have created a great business using cars to help keep women safe. We will continue to highlight specific companies around the world offering this service.
Today we would like to present you with Porsche Forsche (Pronounced For-She) operated by Revathi Roy in Mumbai, India. Roy started the company in December 2006 because she felt uncomfortable with some of the male taxi drivers and thought many of the taxis were unclean. Now she has a fleet of 18 white Maruti Versa cars.
In addition to providing a great service to women she also provides jobs for local women. Prachi Jaiswal, one of the drivers at Forsche, is a car enthusiast and can now work and do what she loves. Jaiswal was quoted in the Hindu Business Times, “I have always loved driving. When I got this chance to indulge in my passion, earn and also work on my freelance design work, I jumped at the offer.”
