De Silvestro joins Indy

21-year-old Simona De Silvestro from Switzerland will race a full season in Indy this year. Previously, she raced in the Atlantic Championship and last year she won 4 races (Patrick never won a race in the Atlantic series) and was in the lead for the championship before she crashed in the final race.

She will join Danica Patrick and Milka Duno (who just confirmed she’ll be racing a full season) and hopefully, at least for a partial season, Sarah Fisher. Ana Beatriz is scheduled to drive at least one race—the Sao Paulo 300. The season begins in Sao Paulo, Brazil (It’s Indy’s first race in South America), with a street race on March 14th.

De Silvestro may very well give Patrick a run for her money this year. It will undoubtedly be an exciting season.
