According to a poll released in Canada, women are still being treated poorly at auto repair shops. 43% of women say they receive worse service than men and 42% say they got higher quotes than men for the same repairs.

So are women really clueless about auto repairs or are mechanics just clueless about women?

Well, according to the poll women actually know about cars. 7 out of 10 women know how to check the engine oil, over 50% know how to change windshield wipers and 1/3 can change a flat tire.

The title of this story was going to be—Calling All Mechanics: Let Go of the Past. But as evidenced by the photo accompanying this story women have been racing cars, fixing cars and passionate about cars since they were first invented.

DLAW prediction: We will soon see a vast increase in female mechanics and garages run by women for women. Mechanix better stock up on those pink camo gloves, they are THE new accessory for the modern era.
