Female drivers are on the rise

About.com collected statistics on women and driving. Here are some of the facts they found:

• According to the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, women are taking over the traditionally male-dominated responsibility of maintenance and repair. (VMR International, 2001)
• Manufacturers have significantly increased their female workforce in recent years. GM has increased the number of female executives in their organization. At Saturn, about 40% of the senior leaders are women. (Business Women’s Network, 2002)
• The overall percentage of female drivers is rising, while overall percentage of male drivers is decreasing. (VMR International, 2001)
