Ms. Lube V. Mr. Lube

Jessica Gilbank, owner of Ms. Lube

Ok, here’s the story. We have Ms. Lube, which is a female run garage founded by Jessica Gilbank in Toronto, Canada. It’s a sexy, fun, ironic name right. Well, Mr. Lube—a chain store with over 100 locations—thought so too when it chose the name a few years back. Mr. has decided to sue Ms. for $250,000.

The story gets even crazier. This all began on a television show. You see Ms. Lube appeared on a show where you pitch your business idea to investors who might want to invest in your company. Only, when she ended up presenting to an investor who was co-owner of Mr. Lube! And thus began the law suit.

Susan Docherty Out as Head of Marketing at GM

Susan Docherty is out as VP of Marketing at GM. Joel Ewanick, formerly the Chief Marketing Officer at Nissan North America, will replace her. The move is a bit strange as she has only held the position since March.

Mark Reuss, President of GM, had this to say about Docherty: “Susan has been deeply involved in GM’s sales and marketing initiatives for many years. With her drive and focus, she has laid the groundwork for solid plans and rejuvenated our agency relationships, placing us in good stead for the future. We look forward to her contribution across the business moving forward.”

We’re not entirely sure what that means but the press release says she will be remaining at GM and her new position will be revealed soon. We’ll be interested to see where she lands.

Kristen Stewart’s Porsche Commercial

Ok, so this was filmed when Twilight’s Kristen Stewart was quite young. But even if this Porsche commercial wasn’t starring the vampire love interest we still love the idea of a young girl who longs to ride in a Porsche.

Liz Halliday will return to racing this summer at the Monza Coppa Intereuropa (5-6 June) and the Silverstone Classic (23-25 July), driving a Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ Coda Tronca. She hasn’t raced since the end of 2008.

Halliday is the most successful female driver in American Le Mans Series and was the only woman racing in the Le Mans 24 hour in 2006 and 2007.

The Alfa, which was built in 1962 and is one of only 29 of its kind, is owned by her father Don. Halliday said, “It’s the car that my dad always wanted to race but sadly never had the chance to because of ill health, so I am very much doing these races for him.” We wish you the best of luck Liz!

1 Woman, 1998 VW Beetle, 400,000 Miles

Alice Mannion, from Exeter Township Pennsylvania, has somehow managed to drive her 1998 VW Beetle 400,000 miles and still keep it running! Her daughter bought her the car in 2000 with 30,000 miles on it. Mannion says she racked up so many miles because she drives about 40,000 miles a year for her dog-sitting business and visiting her 8 children and 15 grandchildren.

Her secret, well she said she changed the oil every 5000 miles. Either that or a multitude of dogs and grandchildren giving love to the little red beetle.

She said she never thought it would make it to 400,000 miles however when asked about the cars future she said: “Will it get to the half-million mark? I hope so.” Well, we do too, good luck!
